| On May 4, 2012 the Buddy Holly Center will be open free of charge from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm for patrons to view its exceptional exhibits at the First Friday Art Trail.
Displayed in the Fine Arts Gallery is the Spring exhibit of the West Texas Watercolor Society. Initially organized in 1962 and formally chartered by the State of Texas in 1973, the Society was instituted for the purpose of promoting the highest aesthetic standards in the art of watercolor painting. Artists from across the region will present their creations in a wide range of watercolor styles and methods. Andrew Martin, Associate Professor of Art at Texas Tech University, will serve as juror for the exhibition which will be open May 4th through June 10th.
Displayed in the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame Gallery is the rotating exhibition, West Texas Walk of Fame. The exhibit highlights those individuals inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame, recently relocated to the plaza directly west of the Buddy Holly Center. This first installment features photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia of the first inductee, Buddy Holly (1979), the second inductee, Waylon Jennings (1980) and the latest individual inductee, Bill Griggs (2010).
In the Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center Phlip Coggins will be performing during the art trail.
