On the first Friday of February, the Buddy Holly Center invites the community to participate in Lubbock’s First Friday Art Trail, a night that provides an opportunity to enjoy fine art, entertainment and refreshments at local art galleries. Every month the galleries involved in First Friday Art Trail work to promote fine art and outreach within the community of Lubbock. On February 3, 2012 the Buddy Holly Center will be open free of charge from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm for patrons to view its exceptional exhibits. The Center will provide FREE refreshments and a cash bar.
A Few of My Favorite Things will be in the Fine Arts Gallery. This exhibit is a retrospective examination of works done by local artist Renee Steger Simpson, who will be available to visit with patrons in the gallery during the art trail. Artwork to be displayed will include paintings, books, note cards and mixed media constructions that span the creative output of this respected artist.
Displayed in the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame Gallery is the rotating exhibition, West Texas Walk of Fame. The exhibit highlights those individuals inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame, recently relocated to the plaza directly west of the Buddy Holly Center. This first installment will feature photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia of the first inductee, Buddy Holly (1979), the second inductee, Waylon Jennings (1980) and the latest individual inductee, Bill Griggs (2010). |
