Illuminance 2007

February 6 - April 21, 2007

Lubbock, TX– The Buddy Holly Center is excited to announce the biennial competitive photography exhibition, Illuminance 2007. The instillation of work chosen by Juror Cliff Deal features a vast selection of photographs from many talented contemporary artists. Illuminance 2007 will be open for viewing February 6 – April 21, 2007 in the Fine Arts Gallery of the Buddy Holly Center. The artist reception to be held March 2, 2007 will include a gallery talk by Cliff Deal and posting of awards.

This presentation of Illuminance 2007 will mark the eighteenth year the Fine Arts Gallery has produced this exhibition. Illuminance continually attracts the attention of artists from across the United States and around the world.  The exhibition has received recognition from many distinguished individuals such as 2002 Juror Judy Dater, and 1997 Juror Terence Pitts.

Illuminance 2007 Juror Cliff Deal is currently the Division Director-Baton Rouge of the Louisiana State Museum. Cliff has 15 years of experience in museums, as well as exclusive photography experience. His artwork has been included in several juried art exhibits including the Biennial Exhibit at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Cliff Deal is excited to be the juror of Illuminance 2007 and states, “There was an edge to every image, a charged and energetic spirit that sometimes leapt out at you and at other times seemed to churn right below the surface. It was absolutely enjoyable to combine the multitude of textures and colors and techniques that the individual artists used to tell a story, or take you to a new place, or show you the “soul” of things.”

The selected works chosen by Cliff Deal include 50 national artists, as follows:

Richard Ashmore; Rodger C. Birt; Robert Bradshaw; Brianna M. Burnett; Lou Chapman; Shea Cofer; Gregory Collins; Lexie Elliott; Jane Elmore; Alex Emmons; Miccaella Eo; Willa Finley; Sandra Gottlieb; Charles Grace; Lisa Green; Jamie Harmon; Dawn Jose; David Kendrick; Richard K.
