Paper Cuts: The Art Of
Contemporary Paper
Lecture and Workshop Rescheduled!
Paper Cuts, which closed on January 20, 2007 consisted of 40 objects made with paper by approximately
25 American artists. Although all the artists
incorporate paper into their artwork, they employ a
wide range of techniques and styles, including
mixed-media assemblages, three-dimensional collage,
and papier-mâché techniques. Many artists in the
exhibition explore paper’s ability to be transformed
from the flat to the voluminous, as well as the range
of texture and the organic nature of paper.
The
closing reception, artist lecture, and workshop, have
been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The
reception and lecture will be held during First Friday
Art Trail on April 6, 2007 from 6:00 - 9:00pm.
The Buddy Holly Center is proud to present guest
speaker and artist Kathryn Clark, from Brookston,
Indiana, who will give a gallery talk during the reception
starting at 6:30pm. Clark and her husband founded Twinrocker Handmade Paper which was the pivotal in the
modern revival of handmade paper in America. The
following day, April 7, 2007, the artist
will present a demonstration and interactive workshop
at 1:00pm.
This exhibit is a program of ExhibitsUSA, a
national division of Mid-America Arts Alliance with
The Texas Commission on the Arts and The National
Endowment for the Arts. Programming
at the Buddy Holly Center is made possible in part by
the generous support of Supporters of the Fine Arts
